Uprise Stories #2: Space Exploration Side Hustler, Jas Purewal

SIDE HUSTLING INTO SPACE | 3 Pieces of Advice About Starting a Side Hustle

This episode, we talk to Jas Purewal, who's pursuing her childhood dream of space exploration by setting up her own side hustle, SpaceXplorer.

SpaceXplorer aims to give everyone the chance to learn and prepare for the future of human space exploration through immersive astronaut training experiences - combining survival training, science and your own space mission.

Oh, AND she's been accepted onto the AdvancingX Career Astronaut program and hoping to get into sub-orbital space very soon!

Here's 3 pieces of advice she shared about starting a side hustle, no matter how big the idea seems:

1. Take small steps

You don't have to completely take your life apart to follow your passions and start something. Rather than taking SpaceXplorer on as a huge project, Jas is starting small and taking one step at a time.

For example, rather than putting on a full experience straight away, Jas is running a small experiment to test the viability of the idea by building a prototype by hand in her back garden!

2. Find a community

Connect with people who are going through the same process as you- starting a side hustle or business - as these people will understand far more than anyone else about what you're going through and the challenges you face.

Don't be afraid to seek help, support and guidance from people and use them to bounce ideas off.

3. When faced with a challenge or feeling negative, refer back to your original 'why'

Jas explains how, after feeling negative for a few days, she referred back to her original vision and 'why', and realised that the reason things had become challenging were because the idea was straying away from the original purpose.

Going back and reminding herself of that purpose then allowed her to make decisions about what to do next and what direction to move in and start feeling positive again.
